The Best of MetaStellar Year Four Anthology

I deleted my Instagram account. That platform was not at all user-friendly to me. I just created a new Facebook page, so I’ll give that a try. I’m not really a social media person. I like being outside and don’t like dealing with other people and their bullshit. So yeah, social media and I have a strained relationship. But nowadays, authors are expected to be on social media and interact with other people, even though many of us became writers because we don’t like interacting with other people. It’s not enough to just write stories anymore. *sigh* Anyways, I now have a Facebook page. The link is in the social media menu in the top right corner alongside the link to my Bluesky profile.

I’m very happy to announce my short horror story, “We Told You of the One Who Lives in the Mound,” is now available on PseudoPod as part of episode 984: “Flash on the Borderlands LXXIV: Thy Shields Between Them and the Light.” It is narrated by Samantha Loney and begins at 29:23 in the episode’s audio.

You can read or listen to the story for free by clicking here.

I’m happy to announce that my short story, “My Grandfather’s Bow,” will appear in Once Upon a Moonless Night: Tales of Betrayal, Revenge, and Redemption, an anthology published by The Brothers Uber. Here’s a description of the story:

A teenage boy steals his late grandfather’s hunting bow only for it to possess him and attack those who have wronged his family.

My family and my fellow tribe members in the Vancleave Live Oak Choctaw tribe greatly inspired this story, and I’m so glad it’s getting published. I will update this when I know the anthology’s release date.

I’m happy to announce my narrative horror poem, “The Songstress,” will appear in The Best of MetaStellar Year Four anthology to be released this June. This poem originally appeared on MetaStellar’s site on March 21, 2024 for National Poetry Day. This will be the first time the poem appears in print rather than online. For those wishing to read the poem, you can find it here. More details to come later.

**Update** The anthology has been delayed to September.

I deactivated my Twitter account. I’ve had quite enough of Elon Musk and his racist antics. It’s a shame because I had that account long before Musk bought Twitter, and I thought I’d have it long after he finally gave it up to someone else, but I’m tired of waiting for that day to come. To replace it, I created accounts on Instagram and Bluesky, which have been significantly more pleasant than what Twitter has become. Links to the new accounts are in the menu and footer of this site.

Creepy Podcast will narrate and podcast a modified version of “What Mel Knows” for their Patreon. “What Mel Knows” originally appeared in the October 2023 issue of Cosmic Horror Monthly. This special audio version omits Mel’s dialog to make the narration more suitable for a single narrator. The episode will only be available to subscribers of Creepy Podcast‘s Patreon, but you can still read the original text version of the story here.

My narrative horror poem, “The Songstress,” is now up on MetaStellar. I originally started writing it as a short story, but for some reason the words came to me in verse and I just ran with it. It’s a whimsical poem, and I hope people enjoy it.

I am pleased to announce that my short horror story, “We Told You of the One Who Lives in the Mound,” will be published and podcast by PseudoPod. This is the first time one of my stories will be released in audio form, and I can’t wait to hear it! Here’s a description of the story:

A young woman’s childhood mistakes come back to haunt her when a vengeful letter-writer calls her back to the mysterious small town she fled twenty years before.

This story is a mix of Choctaw legends and real events that occurred in my hometown. I don’t yet know the release date but will update this when I do.
